Built in 1915, the Parkway Theater on 3 West North Avenue entertained audiences for decades from vaudeville to silent films. In October 2013 after 15 years of vacancy and decay, Baltimore sold this magnificent gem and its adjacent property for $1.
A renovation plan includes a three-screen theater, a live music venue, and a restaurant. The theater will become offices for the Maryland Film Festival and plans to focus on education by assisting John's Hopkins University and the MICA's film programs.
